Ecila records debut album!

So the gig at the Ellington went really well and we had a great audience out on a Tuesday night which was wonderful! The recording was a fantastic experience and we got through all the music in 2 days which was pretty amazing. Next is the editing and mixing process..fun fun!

We’re hoping to release the album before the end of the year so stay tuned!

Here are a few photos from the gig, more to be found in the new gallery!

Upcoming Gig and Recording!

So I’ve spent months writing the music, booking the studio and organising rehearsal dates. (This is a nightmare by the way… it’s really hard to get 10 very busy and amazing musicians in a room at the same time…!)

But it’s done! (well almost..)

It’s going to be an intensive 2 week project of rehearsal, a performance at the Ellington and then heading into the recording studio. Three wonderful musician friends are flying over for Melbourne to play the music as well the other wonderful Perth based people. I’ve included some vocal arrangements with different takes on some jazz standards as well as some old folk songs. I am really looking forward to hearing the amazing Allira Wilson sing them! The gig will also involve some music from trumpet and vibraphone duo Cal2. They’ll be playing some music that I’ve written for them as well as some Stockhausen pieces!

The gig is at 8pm, Tuesday July 3rd at The Ellington Jazz Club, 191-193 Beaufort Street Northbridge.  Would love to see you there!
